Collections Link: online community for cultural heritage professionals

Collection Trusts announced the re-launch of Collections Link, the popular online community for people who work with collections in museums, archives, libraries and other cultural institutions in the UK and Europe. To see it visit:http://www.collectionslink.org.uk
The new Collections Link has been comprehensively updated to make it easier than ever for cultural professionals, students, volunteers and teachers to connect, collaborate and share their knowledge and expertise. New features include:
- Improved search
- Collections Search powered by the Culture Grid (search more than 1.7m objects online)
- Create Groups, manage events and share documents online
- Enhanced searchable user profiles featuring skills and interests
- Updated content, including guidance and factsheets
- Content categorised by subject specialism as well as practice
- Integration with Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
Collections Link currently has 1478 registered members and more than 20 professional groups and networks. The site is completely free to use, with support from the MLA and Museums Galleries Scotland, and has been optimised for use with mobile platforms and tablet PCs.
This re-launch is only the beginning of an ambitious development plan for Collections Link. The coming months will see a host of new content and features including:
- Content Collections featuring the expertise of leading cultural institutions
- Collections Search by subject area
- A learning platform to support training & professional development
